In the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) managed to overcome significant anti-incumbency sentiment and won a third consecutive term, securing 48 of the 90 seats. However, despite the party's overall success, eight key ministers from the incumbent government, including Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta, lost their seats. These losses highlight the challenges the BJP faced, particularly in local constituencies, despite broader statewide victories.

The BJP's ability to defy anti-incumbency can be attributed to several factors. The appointment of Nayab Singh Saini as the new Chief Minister ahead of the elections helped revitalize the party's image, especially among non-Jat communities. The party capitalized on caste dynamics by consolidating the non-Jat vote, which contributed significantly to its victory. Additionally, the BJP’s narrative around clean governance, and its ability to sidestep potential fallout from the farmers' protests, worked in its favor.
