Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been diagnosed with leptospirosis, a bacterial infection commonly transmitted through contact with the urine of infected animals.
Mann was admitted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali earlier this week for a routine check-up after showing symptoms of tropical fever.
Blood tests confirmed leptospirosis, but doctors have reassured that his vitals are stable, and he is responding well to antibiotics.
Leptospirosis can affect both humans and animals and typically enters the body through cuts or mucous membranes when exposed to contaminated environment.
